Many visiting the Big Island will barely notice the Kawaihae small boat harbor on their way
to a tasty dinner at a local restaurant. However, the jetty and its impressive background
silhouetted by the Mauna Loa and Hulalai volcanoes, emerges in all its majesty during a
vibrant twilight typical of the many clear winter days in Hawaii. This long exposure captured
a particularly colorful sky taken 20 minutes after a rather uneventful sunset. Colors at twilight
transpire exquisitely during long photographic captures, necessitating patience and a steady tripod.
