First Model

San Marcos, CA

We began practicing keylight techniques in my Palomar Portraiture class. Dianne is a music student and aspiring model who agreed to sit for us. I was working with a team of four. They were shooting with the Mamiya as I did for a while, however I found using my 5D was much easier. A Mamiya shot by classmate Doug is below.

Nice one Robin, I prefer the 5D shot. Both fotos are very nicely framed and composed..:>

OUTSTANDING, Robin! Your portrait shot is SUPERB!!! Excellent lighting and skin tones. Your classmate's shot of YOU is OK and no reflection on your modeling ability!!!! The difference is in photographers and processing and YOU WIN!!! (you make an excellent model, BTW!)

the Mamiya is a nice medium format camera for portraiture, but obviously the 5D is no slouch
The good thing about the film is that there is no question someone will be able to see the image 200 yrs from now cuz developing never changes & archival quality of film is almost a given
digital images . . well . . .who knows what technology WON'T be around in 5 yrs, let alone 200 =P

whew! where the heck did THAT tirade come from!!! =D

I rarely miss my 645. Excellent lighting. The 5D shines!

Very nice. It is always more comfortable using your own camera because you know what you will get out of it.
