Continuing the discussion of the L A B color space, this image is composed of the 3 channels shown on the right: L (lightness), a (magenta and green), and b (yellow and blue). Note all the detail and light to dark is in the L channel. All the color is in the a and b channels although it can’t be seen and there is very little detail. Combine the 3 channels and you get the picture on the left which looks just like the RGB version shown below.
