The curve of the stem invites you to follow its beckoning to the sunlit bloom with it gold encrusted center and then beyond -- to the blonde chair frame, past that, to its fading shadow on a muted celery green wall. If you were in a hurry to fathom it all, you may have neglected the prismatic glass vase with its stern shadow on the table, and in the foreground two tiny pools of sparkling light like glittering cat's eyes. A wonderful play here of light, color, shadow, and all its attendant mysteries.
