Oh, this is grand. But one I see in the fallen warrior series...its heart buried beneath the mourning pine needles attending and grieving the loss. The spreading russet staining of the almost entire leaf, such a dramatic contrast with the white bruised bark, announces its demise even though it lies there in resplendent beauty. This is an image with great emotional impact.
