Such a gathering -- all those mallard drakes and two female ducks, probably hired to get the drinks for this literary conference. In any event, teal-green heads and yellow bills ornament the rippling waters with the reflected birch and the floating branches, needles, and leaves, all forming a sinuous pattern of flashing light and shadow accented by a cluster of bright green leaves on the lower right.
