Interesting what happens when the golden rudbeckia becomes a monochrome. This is a startling view of high toned drama, with surprising shadows on petals, some quite distinct, others wavering. The shiny ebony surface of the central cone picks up a smidgen of light before all fades into blackness. I like the indistinct background as a counterpoint to the graphic pinwheel force of the flower coming straight at you.
