These pictures were taken from my driveway in Baton Rouge and processed in photoshop elements. My equiptment includes a tripod and an adapter from Eagle eye optics (UK) to attach the Coolpix 4500 to the spotting scope. It seems best to focus the scope exactly, and use the macro auto-focus of the camera. The camera can be in manual with F-stop 3.0 and shutter 1/125 eg (for 1/2 moon) and the auto timer (3 seconds) will eliminate camera shake. B&W gives a truer image.
Considering the small instrument with which they are taken, your lunar pictures are outstanding. Could you post some information on the spotting scope you use, such as lens aperture and focal length? How do you get the closeups? With different eyepieces or by enlargement?
