 Bob drove to Vail on the Northern route through Reno. |
 Emiko flew out to avoid the boring drive through Nevada |
 and then the Great Salt Flats of Utah. |

 Eventually the drive gets interesting as you hit the Rocky Mountains. |
 There was snow along the drive until Bob arrived at the Vail city limits. |

 Emiko drove back with me, and we stopped at the wineries in Grand Junction. |
 There are about a dozen wineries there. Most are poor quality, but a couple were good. |
 The drive back along the Southern route passes through Southern Utah |
 with some spectacular scenery. |

 We spent the night at Mesquite, Nevada, and |
 passed through Las Veags in the morning. The Bellagio looks rather ordinary in the morning light. We didn't bother to stop. |
