I grew up in Burkburnett in the late 40's and early 50's and remember both Ace Bilyeu and Big Boy Bartley. Ace was a city policeman that served most of the 50's and into the 60's, then left to work for Electra PD. Big Boy Bartley, referred to mostly as "big-un" was a Wichita County deputy, as I recall, not a policeman. His patrol area included Burkburnett and I think he lived there. He earned his name by taking charge and "banging heads" when there was trouble, was not afraid to stare down someone with a gun, kind of a John Wayne persona. He should have retired in the 60's, but I moved away from Burkburnett and lost trackk of many of the old-timers.

My step father is Maurice Alexander who grew up in the area back in the 60s. He often speaks of two police officers known as "Ace" Bileau and "Big Boy" Bartley, does anyone remember these guys or know what happened to them.
