What was the name of the prickly, fabric they used in those old cars of the 30's and 40's? It was usually a beige or brown color.

My mate has a 1930 Marmon 112 & a 1929 Hupmobile sitting in his garage neither car has moved for 50+ years but both are in good barn fresh condition .
Marmon's are very rare here in Australia.
He is going to be very excited when i show him the fantastic photo's on this page.

I'm in my late 50's now, but I can remember local junk yards that were full of those great old cars when I was in my early 20's. I wish I had had the interest, time, and resources to rescue some of them before they were crushed and re-made into Toyotas! I'm glad some folks have preserved some of those great old cars and are posting photos so that the rest of us can remember and enjoy them. Thanks...keep up the good work. Clint

Great old cars. I owned a 1938 Ford V8 DeLuxe back in the 1960's. It is getting very hard now to find original cars from the 1930's up through the 1940's that has not been chopped, or hot rodded.

Whoa..when I was a kid in 1973-74 (14-15) living in Chatsworth, I worked for a family who built kit cars. One of the most popular was the 1935 Auburn Boat-tail Roadster. We built the first one for actor Lyle Wagoner--then of "The Carol Burnett Show" and "Wonder Woman" fame. (He now owns the location portable dressing room company called "Wagoneer Star Wagons" in Hollywood, or something like that.
The kit was all fiberglass and all the fenders were two-piece. It was built on a Ford LTD frame and used the same LTD power train. We (I)had to watersand between paint coats--all 17 of them! It sure brought back memories to see the boat tail again! Thanks...hey, if anyone knows if Lyle still owns the car, I'd love to hear from you!

Very beautiful shots of beautiful cars. It appears though, that the 1930 Auburn is about a 1935 Auburn. Not exactly sure, but it's not a 1930.
