20-MAY-2008

We had a choice this morning. we could have gone back out into the Atlantic Ocean at Lake Worth Inlet and sailed to Ft. Pierce; or we could navigate the rivers of the Intra-Coastal Waterway and stop where we liked. The ocean course would have been about ten hours, anchor to anchor. That would put us much closer to Cape Canaveral. We want to be at the Cape to see the launch of the space shuttle Discovery on March 31st. However the 31st is more than ten days from now, so we decided to take the slower river route.
We had a brisk motor-sail past Jupiter Island and into Hobe Sound. We enjoyed the sail with several other boats that were traveling the rivers; none of which had we met before.
As the clouds started to build from the west we decided to anchor early. We stopped at Peck Lake. We had stopped here on the way south. It is quickly climbing to the top of our favorite anchorages list.
By taking the river route we will add an two days to the trip. That will burn-off two of the ten days will have before the launch.
