Even before I left, we had a snow storm..... |
and this was more snow we got well after the big snowstorm in December |
In Myrtle Beach, Buffy got to play around at the dog park |
I did have to protect her from being knocked over by larger dogs |
She got to 'meet' a lot of other dogs! |
And she enjoyed all the different sights and sounds |
Buffy on the beach |
This was the first Sunday I was there; the only really nice day! |
Super Bowl Sunday dinner! Yum! |
When the big blizzard hit at home, I got about 2" of rain! |
Ever since our carport roof was replaced, the water flows heavily off the front of the side |
Remember this scene for later |
Sea gulls standing in the fresh run off water |
It was very cold and windy |
The freeze made these funny patterns in the sand |
The very strong winds had blowing things into the water, including this trash can that was making its way north |
Feeding the birds, including a large pelican |
I hung up a bird feeder (and turned the step stool around to the prettier side).... |
Buffy playing with the small dogs in the dog park |
We got 3.5 inches of snow in Myrtle Beach -- enough to cancel the marathon.... |
The snow was on everything except sidewalks, driveways, and streets |
Buffy wanted to know what all THIS was about!?!?!? |
Plugging along down the sidewalk sniffing the snow |
The snow came from the West and stuck to everything |
Buffy took one look at these snowmen and waddled back in the other direction |
June's side of the house |
Eeek, our palmetto trees are squashed |
More snow in the front of the house than in the back |
View across the gully in the back to our neighbors' houses |
See how the snow stuck to the fence |
These photos are of the snow in the Myrtle Beach State Park |
It really was stunningly beautiful!! |
The trees were all bent down from the weight of the snow |
Like frosting! |
A little pond with snow stuck on the trees |
Coming up to the entry gate; trees hanging down in the road |
This is where we usually park when we go to the beach |
This is the fresh water runoff stream |
Snow on the low, wind-stunted trees |
Looking back to the shop entry to the pier |
Snow on the trees |
Snow on the shop and the boardwalk |
Snow on the boardwalk and the palms |
Clear parking lot |
Snow on the beach! |
Snow on the beach and pier |
Remember that scene from before where the gulls were standing in the fresh water? With snow! |
Lots of shells and things on the beach from last night's high tide |
The snow storm after it went out to sea |
Loads of people on the beach; far more than I saw any other time |
Making a snowman on the beach! |
Storm clouds over the surf |
Snow on the dunes! |
Boardwalk and pavillion |
Boardwalk |
Couldn't get enough of the clouds |
Desolate |
Low wind-pruned trees in snow |
Clouds breaking up |
Camera having a difficult time with the contrast on the snow where the sun is breaking through |
Sun on the ocean |
Snow on the trees |
Sun on the ocean |
View of the barbeque area |
The sun breaks through |
Blue skies behind snow covered trees |
Snow on trees |
Everyone had cameras and were snapping photos -- the last time they had this much snow was in 2000 |
Pretty view |
Ocean, dunes, trees, and snow |
Once the sun came out, the snow started sliding off the trees |
The view when you make the turn to the parking lot for the beach |
The park office with palm trees |
View again of that little pond with snow on the trees |
View leaving the park |
And of course after all that walking -- pancakes plus biscuits and gravy!! |
These gulls thought I had brought some food and weren't happy that I didn't have anything! |
.....and neither were their friends!! |
My agaves are having a hard winter -- frozen and waterlogged |
My crinums have been killed to the ground; hope they'll be okay |
Buffy on her couch where she spent 98% of her time.... |
Very happy with the diningroom and matching hutch/chest |
Chadbourne 8:30 a.m. Sunday; not a car in sight but the light is red |
And once I got home...... |
Look at the snow on top of the bird bath! |
Icycles everywhere.....as well as very thick ice dams in the gutters |
The inaccessible shed; the snow is about 2.5' deep all over; VERY hard to walk through |
Big wave of snow above the deck |
Don up to his knees in snow |
Snow down by our laundry room door |
But Don was smiling to have me home!! |
Don did a heroic job keeping the driveway clean |
The RAV is still completely covered in snow |
Hats on the lamp and bird feeder |
Cliftonbrook Lane with Emerson to the right |
The snow at the peak is over 2' tall...... |
And the last two days we've had flurries.... |
