We encountered this pack of 20 African Wild Dogs early one morning not far from camp. They had killed an impala probably an hour before and were just finishing off the remaing bits. You can still see quite a bit of blood on the faces and necks of the adults. They ignored our jeep so we were able to stay with them for almost an hour as the adults relaxed and the pups played and fought over scraps. These dogs are endangered, very rare and very hard to find, and this was also an unusually large pack, so we felt extremely fortunate to see them this close up. Wild Dog have very strong family bonds and it was extraordinary to watch this large family interact. It was the highlight of the trip.
