As in much of Africa, life happens along the road. We had very long drives on some poor, rural dirt roads and we saw everything you can imagine. Many places would only see a couple of vehicles an hour, and even fewer white faces, so our large jeep (pictured below) usually drew a crowd. When children heard us coming they would line the road waving, dancing and singing out "How are you, how are you, how are you!"
