Fast Ice Sequence

"Fast ice" is sea ice attached to the coast. In this sequence, you first see the ship headed straight for the fast ice. The Captain didn't tell us he intended to embed the ship in it, so a few of us on deck were wondering why we were hurtling straight for it at speed! In the second shot I'm shooting over the bow as we start to go in. If you click on the image to make it larger you'll notice penguin tracks. After we were fully embedded, we dropped the gangplank and had a walk around. The ice was about 3' thick. In the last shot, fog rolling in means everyone back on the boat. Very special experience, only possible in perfect conditions.
