IMG_2422.jpg

Male Pileated Woodpecker. The only time we see them in the area is in September and October when they stop by to feast on the ripened Magnolia tree's seed pods. They seem to be quite shy and in three years they've never given me a nice, open, clear shot. Hopefully, now that I have my 400mm lens I'll have better luck.
