Mt. LeConte is the sixth highest peak east of the Mississippi River and third highest in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The summit can be reached by five different trails. An overnight lodge, the only of its kinds in a national park, sits just below the peak. Reservations are required.

Super pics! I climbed LeConte four times in the 1980's as a teenager (twice in the shelter and twice in the Lodge). I've been waiting to take my wife and kids - I think that early June 2008 will be our target date to stay in the shelter.

thank you for all the very nice pictures. we are planning to hike to the lodge is sept. cant wait. this is our first time. we are hiking the trillum cap trail any thing we need to know about the trail would be helpful.
