We drove down to Hastings on the south coast today to buy some fish from the fishermen's huts on the beach. We got some smoked haddock, a couple of halibut steaks, and several skate wings. Then we discovered that today was their annual trawler parade so we watched the boats being launched off the beach one by one, festooned in flags, balloons and very many merry crew, for a race to the pier and back. For lunch, we ate a bag of chips on the seafront and later on, after a walk along the promenade we had some hot fresh donuts dusted in sugar... yummy !!
