The day started badly. First, I overslept and knew I was going to miss my usual train. Then the radio announced that one of our local roads was closed due to an accident... in addition to another road which had already been closed since the weekend because of another accident, meaning that all the traffic would be leaving town on the same road as me, so my normal journey to the railway station was now going to take even longer (another missed train ?) I joined the queue of traffic barely a hundred yards out of the house and crawled for the next 3 miles. Thought I'd be clever and nip down a tiny country lane and cut through... except everyone else had had the same idea and I ended up going back the way I'd come.
It normally takes me 12 minutes to drive to the station. After 45 minutes this morning I was going in ever decreasing circles and still no closer to the station than when I started. So I went home, logged on and worked on my laptop instead.
That's when the day got better - the weather has been simply glorious and I enjoyed lunch on the terrace in the sunshine, serenaded by a friendly blackbird. I took the opportunity to sneak off for half an hour in the afternoon to take some pics of wildflowers. AND I've avoided two and a half hours of commuting today :-))
