04 Harsh Light shot at 500th.jpg

Here is the resulting shot with proper metering. I know it looks ugly in this light, but your shadow and mids info isnt burried into an aera with little chance of recovery. Yep, the highlights are blown, but not un-recoverable, but your subject will have solid colors once mildly edited. You will see at the end with this shot compared to the camera metered shot with post processing done what I am talking about. I have to say shooting people in this type of light though would be a challenge at best with highlights on shiny skin probably not recoverable. In that case I would take the base exposure, take a few shots to test, and if the blinkies are very strong on your subject adjsut it down till blinkes are ALMOST gone (not fully gone) the last bit should be recoverable and keeep a better balance for the other areas to have some pop.
