I continued on the Alaska Highway from Jake's Corner, still traversing the Southern Lakes area of Yukon. The scenery is beautiful on this section of the road. The weather can be unpredictable at all times of the year though, and I noticed some fresh new snow falling on the nearby mountain tops, even though this was in the middle of summer.
I stopped for the night at Mukluk Annie's Salmon Bake which was a great camp ground and restaurant. Salmon is very popular in the region and is available at almost every truck stop/restaurant. It was certainly great to regularly be able to enjoy a huge grilled salmon steak after having completed the daily distance of typically 100-150km. Unfortunately this particular place has apparently since closed in 2009.
