It was a long way to get there... I even had to get a new passport in Egypt to enter Jordan, as the Israeli stamped mine when I entered the country...

Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the crossing by boat from the Sinai to Jordan. I have never seen such an overcrowded boat, with all these Egyptians going to Saudi to find work... the boat was disgusting. It did not help much to get 1st class tickets! But, as usual, a great experience.

Petra, established sometime around the 6th century BC, by the Nabataean Arabs... the city was "hidden" (from outsiders) until the beginning of the 19th century... Indiana Jones was filmed here. What brought me to this place? A Brazilian soccer trainer, who lived in Qatar showed me his holiday film in Santos (Brazil) one day and I was fascinated... the hikking to the monastery and to the obelisque are also great. Being with a beduine playing her floute in that silent valley was an unforgettable experience. We could only hear the kids playing on the other side of the valley...

Amman was also an experience... weird sometimes. Walking in a neighbourhood with my long hair was all of a sudden not fun. A whole square stopped to look at me... the boys stopped playing soccer, and the whole attention was on me. This was one of those weird situations...
There was also the couple (Brazilian married to an American consul or similar position) who invited me for dinner (friends of friends)... already at that time the American was scared to drive around in his car with an American number plate (I am sure they do not do it anymore!)... a great experience to meet such an unusual family in Jordan!

The trip back to Israel was very interesting... Just imagine how it feels to cross the border of these 2 countries!!! Oh, yes, they ask a lot of questions and it takes a long time...
