I was 21 y.o. when I went to Europe for the first time. I had saved money from selling t-shirts in Brazil and I was just waiting for an opportunity (to get an intership) to leave for a year. When I got it via IAESTE (after organizing 3 interships in companies of friends for students from Europe), I left. The intership was in Dresden. I worked at the university and on my first day the Professor Doctor... gave me a technical book in German about welding the parts which connect train cars (with the time they get thinner and thinner and they have to be made thicker). He told me: you have to write a program that covers these formulas which control the welding parameters, such as heat, temperature, bla bla bla... Conclusion, I almost wanted to leave! But after a while things got better and I did finish the work. But of course, what counts it the fun with the other trainees, and the many months travelling after the intership.
