My parents have led much travelled lives. Born and grew up in China during the Sino-Japan war and then the civil war between the Kuomingtang and the Communists, they fled China for Taiwan in 1949 with their parents aged 21 and 19 respectively. In 1970, after spending 21 years in Taiwan where my sisters and I were born, my Dad, trained as an engineer migrated to Singapore. For the next 27 years, my family settled down in Singapore, became Singaporean and where I grew up and worked. For the past 14 years, my parents divided their time between Singapore and Vancouver where my family and my sister's family live. In June 2010, my wife and I took Mom and Dad on a 10-day China tour visiting places where my parents' once spent their youth. It was a nostalgic trip.
