Visit to the Redwood Forest

Northern California's Humboldt Redwoods.
A redwood forest is a very quiet place. Since there are few bugs due to the composition of redwood, there are few or no birds.
Fallen trees lay for many years before showing any signs of decomposition.

In the early morning light, in the quiet forest, you may get the feeling that you could have been there 1000 years ago and it would look just the same.
It probably would have.

dangit! I had a looong comment all readyto go/ somehow I lost it during registering :(
So I will do it again.
The pictures are beautiful. I spent the last 8 years, 8 miles above Garberville.
From Humboldt Co one can definitely still see the paradise that was once the whole earth. I loved it there and will be going back soon.
I was stricken in 2011 with a fatal disease and part of the instruction is to distribute my ashes along the Ell River and have a huge party in celebration of my time spent in this paradise.

We drove through this beautiful place about 12 yrs ago and it lovely. We camped in a KOA campground amid the Redwoods-----what an experience!

Jess my brother lives in humbolt county and he has been trying to get me to go up there for years but I am going to make it up there by the end of this year yhay me finaly

"There's no place like home". And for me, this is where it all began, my life, my appreciation for beauty, all of it. I spent 25 years in the redwood forests, and I've been gone for 6 years. I still can't resist going back for anywhere between a week and 5 months, at least once a year. Family is a good excuse, but the truth is I miss the trees. Colorado is gorgeous, but Humboldt county, California trumps all in beauty. There are great photographers out there, and lots of beautiful scenery just begging to be shot, but the perfect combination is when you have a great photographer taking the photo of an awe inspiring view. It seems this page is full of just that combination, over and over. Well done, and coming from a native, I definitely approve.

what a nice reminder of a trip I took 15 years ago. I'd forgotten what it was like. Now I remember.
