Maisonnette, NB

RED KNOT [Calidris canutus] with a color band and "flag". Band and flag info: lime green "flag" marked "P3M" on left leg, above joint, + metal band on right leg, below joint. Also note the radio transmitter on the bird's back.

This individual was located on June 6, 2009, among a flock of 25 Red Knots at Maisonnette Dune, Gloucester County, NB, Canada.

I'll have to revisit a Piping Plover I observed banded a few months ago, Robert. Do you know the purpose of multiple bands on a bird?
