These are pix from a morning trip to Herculaneum (Ercolano Scavi on the CircumVesuviano)
Herculaneum is much smaller than Pompeii and has better preserved murals and buildings, however, there has been some "restoration work".
It is very easy to see most of Ercolano in half a day, although for those particularly interested in Roman remains, probably a leisurely day would suit better.
I have enhanced the contrast and saturation for some of these pix so that they stand out from the background better and (perhaps) look more as they were in 79AD before the eruption.
