Astronomy

Taking decent astronomical pix in London is very difficult due to the turbulence/"bad seeing" as well as light pollution.
I use a 5 megapix video camera and stack the best images, using Registax and Avistax freeware.
Some are taken with a 5 inch (127mm, f12) Maksutov-Cassegrain on an alt-azimouth tripod mount...
and others with an 8 inch (200mm, f6) Newtonian, on a Dobsonian mount.
Both have computerised star drive, which works well for a while, but not as well as an equatorial mounting.
Both of these can give magnifications of between x240 and x600.
Obviously the air turbulence is also magnified by these amounts, causeing the image to dance around a lot...in and out of focus!
so focussing on anything sharply is quite a challenge.
