man at Plaza de Espana copy.jpg

A good quiet moment in a very busy area.
Plaza De Espana
I like the vertical and horizontal lines within this shot.
Improving this shot.
Your ideas please?
Some would say clone out the old man and place in a good looking woman.
Yes that would be true.
Maybe cropping
When to crop ?
Cropping this shot could place the man on the thirds but may lose the lines leading in.
Also cropping would lose the distracting leaf bottom right.
Also the question is the background the main idea here or the person.

Would it be better to lose some of the left hand black light post which is going out of
the frame ?
Possibly have a little sky above it to close it off ?
The colours are good for contrast with the orange and blue, maybe more saturation is required ?
Sometimes over rich in saturation can appear very false.
Converging verticals! I am sure there is a fix for that anyway.

I really like this, but I do think I agree with Neil. Cropping some of the bottom would make it so the man is not so close to the vertical center and that lower part of the foreground does not add any interest to the image. The exposure, color, light and composition otherwise are excellent.

The subject is the man The secondary subject is the building (or visa versa). I would crop 1/3 off the bottom. It brings the viewer closer to the subject. You'll still have some of the flagstones in the picture

It is fine just as it is...the man is part of what you saw. Wonderful architecture. V
