The Hotel Maritim is a great place. Smack in the middle of the former East Germany, it's a shining example of the progress that Germany is making in the continuing effort to reunify the country. Germany deserves endless praise for its efforts to absorb the former Soviet satellite. They've spent over a trillion dollars bringing the East up to par, and it shows -- rebuilding infrastructure, improving schools, extending public services, and creating jobs. This hotel is a great example of the progress being made. It's also a fantastic place to stay, with a world-class restaurant, excellent rooms, and a very professional staff.
