Sand Hills.jpg

Ahmeek, MI

This magnificent light was established in 1919. Built like a fortress to withstand the severe storms of Lake Superior, it is located at Five Mile Point, North of Ahmeek Michigan. The tower rises 90 feet above the lake's surface. The installation contains two fog buildings as well as a building for the storage of oil. The light was deactivated and today is occupied as a bed and breakfast. We did not stay there but met several people who did and they reported the food and service were excellant. There are hours provided for tours within the structure, although unfortunatly we were there at the wrong time.
