We spent the first week of January 2011 on the Indonesian island of Lombok. Lombok lies to the east of Bali and is of a similar size to its neighbour. It is less commercialized than Bali and we found it more relaxed. The beaches are also cleaner and the hawkers selling souvenirs are far less pushy.
About 85% of the population are indigenous Sasak people and they are mostly Muslim. As with almost anywhere in Indonesia, the people are incredibly friendly and hospitable.
Lots more photographs to process and add.
