Kraton Surakarta - Sultan's Palace 2009

There are two sultan's/king's palaces (kraton) in Surakarta. This is the larger of the two built in 1745. One day a week there is traditional dancing to gamelan music. There is also a museum.

The current dynasty of rulers of Surakarta started with Pakubuwono II who ruled from 1745 to 1749. Pakubowono XIII is the current ruler.
