I purchased a Clematis paniculata last year (it's still in the pot), but I've read so much negativity on the spreading of it, it almost scares me. will weed killer kill it? my neighbor sprays the edge of his fence regularly and that's the best place for my plant. other then pulling new growth is there a better way to control it? and when I prune it in spring won't it reseed anyway? thanks for any help

I have an 8-year old climbing paniculata clematis which bloomed in June (purple coloured flowers) and, again, in late August/September (white). Is it normal for this plant to have two showings in a season in different colours?
