This one-of-a-kind bird was first seen and photographed on 05-23/24-2009 and amazingly was seen again on Duxbury Beach, MA on a sunny 05-14-2011 - within a half mile of the original sighting! These photos were taken during the 2011 sighting at the bayside edge of the marsh just north of High Pines. There is little or no visible change in the bird over the two years that I can see except that in some shots the legs appear a bit less black - but that may be attributable to having better light for the 2011 pictures. In my 2009 post I remarked about wishing to see it in bright sunlight never thinking that that would be an option; well, it's two years later, and I got my wish! Equally amazing was that it was found both times by the same folks - Jim and Allie Loehlin, recreational birding enthusiasts who visit Duxbury Beach when they are in town. Jim got video of the bird in 2009. What are the odds that the same individual bird would migrate through the same dot on the map where it would be discovered by the same people who found it two years earlier? and that I'd be lucky enough to get close enough to get good photos to document the event on both occasions?
