Build in 1903 for John Shaffer Phipps. Many motion pictures (scenes)and commercials were filmed here. Some include "North by Northwest", "Love Story" "Cruel Intentions", "Hitch","the Swimmer", "Age of Innocence", "The Manchurian Candidate" (2004), "American Gangster","Sex and the City", "8mm", just to name a few. Some scenes are indoors, out in front, on the lawns. It's a beautiful place to visit while on LI.
