I spotted something hanging from the barbed wire near the Cades Cove visitor's center and it was this hapless bat who'd caught his tail on one of the barbs while flying too close. Another photographer, a wildlife officer from another state, stopped by while we were taking pictures and used gloves and a towel to extricate the bat from its predicament and put it in a nearby tree. Hopefully, it recovered to fly another night.
