All of my life, I have been a consummate people watcher. Portraiture is simply a natural extension of this passion. I love people. I enjoy meeting them, talking to them and getting to know them.

This year, I have pointed my lens at friends, family, models and the occasional stranger. I have used natural light, studio light and even stage light. I’ve had people pose and I have captured them when they were unaware of the camera.

My desire in making these images is that I might magically record some small portion of a person’s soul with the camera. I’m discovering that photographing people is an intimate pas de deux that reveals as much about the person behind the lens as it does about the person in front of the lens.

Hopefully, these photographs have meaning to the people in them. If I have succeeded, they will become even more meaningful twenty years from now.
