On 17 January 2008, we began our 8 day trek up the Lemosho route of Kilimanjaro. We booked our trek directly with Zara Tours of Tanzania and were very pleased in every way. Zainab, the owner of the company, treated us very well and even gave us free loding upgrades in the Serengeti. Our guide on the mountain, Charlie Matiko, was excellent and became a trusted friend by the end of the trip.

Rian, You always seem to be one step ahead of me in your travels. Hiking Kilimanjaro is in my immediate plans and has always been a dream of mine. Of course I would love to conquer the "Seven Summits" but I 'll focus on Kilimanjaro first. I went through each and every photograph and read your travelogue with excitement. Congratulations on making it to the summit! Vote!
