Grand Canyon: Bright Angel Hike

These pictures are from a hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon in October 2004. The first few pictures are taken in Petrified Forest National Park on the way to the Grand Canyon. We planned to hike down the South Kaibab Trail, but had to change plans due to the snow/ice conditions on that trail. We went down and back up the Bright Angel Trail.

Rian, Did the South Kaibab/Bright Angel hike in January 2003 in the snow too. One of the best backpacking trips I ever did. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun too! Sam

You have some lovely pictures there. Hard to believe such weather differences in just a couple of days. Love the one with the tree with bits of snow on.

Wow. Quite the adventure hiking down in that weather. You were definitely rewarded with some great scenery though (especially the next day). Great shots. I was soooo close, but had to settle for photographing the Sedona area during/after that storm (thanks for your comments, by the way). -Guy
