China-The New Generation

The one-child policy is no longer the law of the land, however most families still seem to have only one child-excpet for an occasional set of twins. While China has traditionally been a culture paying respect to elders, modern China appears to be extremely child-oriented. The children are uniformly well dressed and well cared-for. Also, much of the construction one sees around the cities is for schools and universities. Clearly many Chinese look to their children as the principal hope for the future.
