(Calypte costae)

Vasona Park, Los Gatos, Ca

The Costa's is not normally found in the San Francisco Bay region. It's common to the Southwestern United States
and the Baja California Peninsula of Mexico. Our locally ubiquitous hummingbird is the Anna's. Consequently,
this particular bird has been visited by many local birders and bird photographers since it showed up several weeks ago.
