After a somewhat disappointing morning in Lamar Valley (because the wolves failed to show), six wolves suddenly appeared on the hillside BEHIND the "Wolf Watchers" and nonchalantly made their way down the hill and across the road. They continued down into the valley, crossed the Lamar River and loped through the brush for about a 1/4 mile before stopping on a small upslope to howl for 3 or 4 minutes. In apparent response to the howling, two more wolves joined them, and after excited "greetings" for the newcomers, the eight wolves continued on over the hill, presumably to hunt.
