This Black Oystercatcher in a tide pool at Point Lobos in Carmel, California was prying limpets from the rocks and expertly using it's bill to cleanly separate the limpet from it's shell. It worked at a casual pace, prying the limpets from the rocks with it's bill_it's shell removal technique was effortless and efficient. Notice the empty limpet shells near the oystercatcher's feet in several of the images.
