Cirrus was given to me by a breeder of Labs in 1998 on Thanksgiving weekend. She was blind from the start, but this was not a handicap. She navigated so well, I thought for sure she must be able to see at least lights and shadows, but the eye specialist assured me this was not the case. As I recall, his exact words were,"If I can't see into her eyes, she can't see out of them." Cirrus, so named because of the cloudy appearance of her eyes, had a distinctive staccato bark when encountering anyone she didn't "see" on an everyday basis. Although leery of strangers, she never showed any aggression toward humans, or animals. As I search my archived images, I will be adding to this gallery.
