Fiery Skipper (Hylephila phyleus)

This southern butterfly species is a very rare stray this far north, but with many species expanding their ranges northward the status of this butterfly in my area may change. It was nice to see this species locally today. This species is brilliantly colored compared to other skippers and certainly has a fiery personality. It was very flighty and very fast and erratic in flight. It took over an hour with 3 of us looking before we got good collection of shots.
