Great Golden Digger (Sphex ichneumons)

This wasp is a common flower visitor in the summer and hard to miss because of its enormous size and conspicuous coloration. In the fields in my neighborhood they were very common this day visiting milkweed alongside butterflies and other wasp species.

Great shot and find Chris. Common you say. I shot my first a few days ago and ID'd it to be a Thin Waisted Wasp. Thanks for the held with the correct ID.
