Dear Guest :)
In case you come back to view lol, thought I would write you a message here.
I didn't think to visit Nockamixon this weekend. I've been there when it was iced over before. Maybe I'll go on Monday :) I heard a lot of the creeks are frozen solid.
Wonder if the river is really icy?
Spectacular work, Ruth. We're Bucks County newbies living all week in NYC coming out here weekends. I've been working on some shots of Nockamixon iced over and partly iced over. It's cold but we're going to walk over there tomorrow, hoping for some happy light. I've bookmarked your site and will come back to see more. Ain't we lucky?

The orange wall was taken in Fredericksburg. Thanks for the comments! Your work is wonderful. I learned something just looking at your perspective. Rob Schwander
Thanks for dropping into "my house", I hope you felt welcome. I'm glad you liked what you saw.
I had a wander through your galleries, particularly your favourites and they are marvellous. I remember some of them but there are lots of fine additions. What a lovely collection you have.
Take care & best regards
Ruth...thank you for commenting on one of my images. I've had a quick look at your galleries and have bookmarked them so I can come and browse again. Your images are so colourful and vibrant and Bucks County is a beautiful part of the USA.
Beautiful work! Thoroughly enjoyed Bucks County series, as am from that area. Did you ever photo Bowman's Tower views? They are gorgeous in the fall of the year.
Thanks for your kind words on my images. Your work is outstanding and captures the beauty of Bucks County. I also live in Bucks County and you have inspired me to get out more to some of those beautiful scenic places and start shooting.
Beautiful pictures. I spent quite a lot of time in Quakertown and on the Tochickon Creek as I was growing up about 45 years ago. It was wonderful finding your pictures especially the picture of Sheard's Mill Bridge. My sister and I would walk to the bridge from our house a few miles away. Do you have any of the old mill next to the bridge? Thanks for bringing back such pleasant memories.
YOUR PICTURES TOOK MY BREATH AWAY!! THEY ARE BEYOND WORDS, BECAUSE BEAUTIFUL DOES'NT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE THEM!! I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO PURCHASE SOME OF THESE AND HANG THROUGHOUT MY HOME!! THESE ARE THE PICTURES I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR, BUT COULD NEVER FIND UNTIL NOW!!IF YOU COULD PLEASE SEND ME A PRICE LIST WITH SIZES I WOULD VERY MCH APPRECIATE IT!!
I have enjoyed viewing your photos. They are Awesome! Some nice photo ops in Ithaca,NY. Couple of gorges and many waterfalls.

Hi, great photos, nice website. I am also from Pennsylvania, (Brookville) and am now living in California. Thank you for correcting my Covered bridge problems. I have more Covered bridge postcards with different views. If you are interested email me and I will send you an attachment to my email with some of them. Loux, Cabin Run, Uhlerstown, or maybe others you may want to look at. Thanks for the ebay purchases. Billsteal Billkc6wfl@comcast.net

Beautiful work in all your galleries, Ruth. You have a keen eye and a wonderful talent.
Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes, you must come out west, it is the "mother ship of landscape photography. :-) You especially have to visit the Teton/Yellowstone area. It is my absolute favorite, there is no place like it.

Hi Ruth! It is always a pleasure to drop by your site; you do great work and it is great seeing my old neighborhood on occasion!
Have you been uploading to and microstock sites yet? If not, you could do very well with your images. Check out Dreamstime.com and BigstockPhotos.com That is where I load up some of my work.
Keep shooting and enjoying nature! I'll be heading to Tucson, AZ for a shoot soon. Will be posting some new stuff after the trip.
Harry The Roadrunner
Just found a new landscape fave artist! I am in awe of your work and the presentation in both PBase and your website.Kudos.
Stopped by for a visit, it's always a pleasure. You help me train my eye as I look upon this visual feast.
thanks for the comment!
I can't believe you exhibited at a gallery right here in Newtown and I didn't find out about it until two weeks after it was over. Please be sure we all know about the next one so that I don't miss it again.
Just wanted to thank you for the comment on my gallery, and let you know you have a lovely collection of photos here!!!! Very well done.
Ruth I have been able to look at your galleries and your images are so full of meaning. I can appreciate beauty through your eyes and that is such a gift. Take care! Brent
First of all thank you so much for your kind words and helpful advice!
Second of all, I want to compliment you on your albums. I looksed through a few of them, one of which being Canada. That is one of my favorite areas of North America, and the shots are great!
Just had the greatest of pleasure viewing your galleries.
The more I see of your work the more your pictures remind me of my favourite artist Constable!
You are truly gifted at your work with the finest of talents to interpret a scene into a photographic masterpiece!
Magnificent artistic and photographic achievements like yours rightly deserves the highest recognition. Congratulations Ruth, you are amazing!
Thank you very much for your nice comments on my pbase gallery. I consider this being a big encouragement since it came from a great photographer like you.
I visited both you pbase galleries and your own website. You have captured many magic moments. I particularly like the fall colors and the magnificent lighting in your photos. It is also very happy to realize, through your work, I am living in such a beautiful state, PA.
Hope to see more great work from you.
Thank you for your visit and kind words. I appreciate your encouraging feedback.
Hi Ruth, I've just looked at all your images. I couldn't pull myself away. You are the queen of fall photography. I love it. Your photos look like paintings. They are soooo lovely. You should give workshops in your area. People would pay lot of money to be able to see and photograph some of your picturesque country side. Just awesome.
Thanks for stopping by may gallery, and for the kind encoraging words.
Good Evening Ruth, I too live in beautiful Bucks. Your images are simply amazing. Keep up the great work. I'm new to Pbase, learning the ropes. Your galleries are all class. Makes me want to jump out of bed to capture the magic of the morning in our backyard. I read somewhere that almost anyone can take a great picture in Yosemite, but the masters can capture the magnificent in their own back yard....
Thanks for stopping by my gallery Ruth.
great landscape shots!
Thanks for visiting my galleries and your kind comments.
You really have a beautiful galleries, I love your photos. Good job Ruth! :)
M.A.C. Photography (Miles & Melissa Carver)
Thank you for stopping by my galleries, and for the nice comments. All I can say is WOW! you have some stunning images in your galleries.
Miles Wext Chester
Ruth, thank you for dropping by my galleries and for leaving the nice comment. You have some wonderful images in your galleries, a great eye for composition and for seeing what others often miss.
Thanks for your comments...well, yours is one of the best sites I have seen on Pbase. You have exceptional quality. I am striving to get to your level, but taking it one step at a time. I have only been at this for a year and a bit. I started out only photographing wildlife and have moved on to landscapes, which is what I like best.
As for where Ohiopyle State Park is located, it is southeast of Pittsburgh near the town of Uniontown. It is a bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip. I have several shots from there. There is the Youghioheny (sp?) River which is pretty awesome and Cucumber Falls, which is spectacular as well. I did not do justice to it as I did not have my new landscape lens at the time, so I struggled to get the shots I did get.
Also, was not sure exactly how to implement your suggestions on the one photo as I only have Elements 2.0. but will ask more questions later. Thanks for your input and visit.
Awesome collection. I'll be back !!
Thanks again dear Ruth for your very kind comment, I´m glad you like my abstract images, best wishes, Rosemarie :o)
* TAKES TWO, YOU AND THE SUBJECT! JUSTICE HAS BEEN DONE *
Ruth , Thank You for your comments and visit to my gallery. You do beautiful work .
You have a great collection images. Each and every one is a work of art. Enjoyed watching them immensely! Voted!
I stumbled onto your galleries for the first time tonight. What wonderful landscape images you have...really stunning. I really admire the time you must spend getting out for the right lighting/conditions to get these spots. You don't land that many great shots by just stumbling across them. How much prep work do you do on a location? Just great work!
Hi dear Ruth, Thanks for your kind comment and vote on my landscape shots, I really feel honored about because you are such a wonderful photographer, I admire your works, your Nikon D70 seems to be a good camera, I´ll buy a better camera as soon as possible. Best wishes, Rosemarie
Most of your photos are superb, like fine art, and very enjoyable to view. Thank you very much for taking time out to view mine. Im flattered.
Thanks dear Ruth for your kind comments and vote on my shots, I´m glad you liked them, best regards, Rosemarie :o)
Dave C (Sgt. Pepper)
I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your galleries Ruth. Your landscape work in particular is stunningly beautiful.
RUTH you've accomplished soooo much! I breathless. Donna
Thanks for dropping by on my young gallery, I'm really you glad you did, otherwise I could have missed those wonderful photos you have in your gallery.
Ruth, Thank you very much for visiting my galleries. I appreciate your kind words and your feedback is very valuable to me. After you mentioned the comment about the sticks distracting from the houses in the background of one of my pictures, I noticed it also, so I will be cropping them out of the shot. Thank you again. Also, I did not know any of people that I took photographs of, (with the exception of the people in the foreground of this photo
Thank you again for your valuable feedback.
Also, I love your landscapes, how long have you been a photographer, and how do you get such depth of field to your photoss?
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my galleries. Its always nice to meet a fellow Pennsylvania photographer! Your galleries are very, very well done. If you're interested in shooting our state's waterfalls, I would highly recommend you purchase Scott Brown's book "Pennsylvania Waterfalls: A Hiker's and Photographer's guide" Its inexpensive and will take you right to the base of over 120 waterfalls in the state. In general, just a bit north and west of you is loaded with them. Sullivan, Luzerne and Pike counties were three places I did a lot of my shooting on a 7 day waterfall photography trip I completed a few weeks ago, but I've also done some near Pittsburgh on the other end of the state. (I live near Erie.) After a good rain this fall, head to Ricketts Glen in Sullivan County. You won't go home disappointed, I promise.
Take care and I will add you to my favorites because you can't meet too many PA shooters!
Barbara Read and Fred Schaad
Thanks again, Ruth for all the kind comments to our Palouse gallery.
Your photos are certainly refreshing. Can't say pbase has any thing quite like it.
As always you've got great galleries. I really love the autumn shots. Keep it up
JUST A WORD TO THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR IMAGES WITH THE ONES WHO ARE NOT BLESSED ENOUGH TO TRAVEL AND SEE FOR THEMSELVES. BUT YOUR PHOTOS BRING ME THERE, AND DELIVER TO ME THE JOY THAT IS SOMEHOW BETTER THAN BEING THERE, YOU CAPTURE IT BETTER THAN I WOULD HAD HAVE I TRAVELED THERE MYSELF..THANK YOU.
Your galleries are all wonderful. You are really a gifted photographer. I envy your talent.
Thanks Ruth for your very nice comments on my images, and I appreciate your votes very much.
Thanks Ruth... for the wonderful comments and encouragement. Wanted to stop by tonight at Sayen Gardens, the parking lot was full (some kindda wine tasting ceremony going on...). I am frequent visitor at the garden (at odd hours...early mornings/late evenings)...let me know about your next visit.
I truly appreciated your recent visit to my gallery and providing such favorable and encouraging comments! I must say that I still have a long way to go to even come close to the quality of nature photography that you are producing! Love your site!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments you made on my site. It is such a delight to discover your galleries. I have added you among my favorites and will be back often to visit. Your images are amazing and so very inspiring.
Ruth, Hi, I came upon your gallery by accident and to my surprise, there is some excellent work you have here.
Nice to see your work! I am a fellow resident of Bucks County!
Fernando Alonso Rojas
Hello Ruth, I like much your gallery, seems to me very good, congratulations. Best regards.
Wow, am I ever glad you visited my site and left a comment becasue it helped me discover your site as well. Your photos are amazing, beautiful, and inspire me to spend more time with my 20D... I noticed that someone posted a comment regarding Antelope Slot Canyons. This was actually the first thing I shot with my 20D and it was an amazing experience. I went in March, which is the early season, and had the entire lower canyon to myself and only had three others in the upper with me. It was such a powerful place that I made two more visits later that same month. If you have any questions drop me an email. My Antelope pics are posted at
(Oh yeah, that 'brave soul' at the Grand Canyon was me:) Self portrait (tripod mounted with a 20 minute timer set.) All the best, Pete
Iris Maybloom (irislm)
You live in such a beautiful part of the country and your images do it great justice. I'm new to pbase and have found your photos very inspiring. I'm so pleased I discovered your galleries.
Thanks for all your kind comments in my galleries, i have only just come across yours a few days ago, so i will be back shortly to view some more.
To answer your question regarding Antelope Canyon, yes, the light levels are low, light is provided by narrow opening at the top of the canyon, tripods are allowed, good job really as exposures can range from 5-30 secs depending where you are, there are some sections that are very dark. But for me it's a magical place, next time i am over i want to visit Lower Antelope, its a lot deeper, even lower light levels, but doesn't have as many photographers all trying to get a shot. Must have been around 100 persons in the canyon at the time when i was there, it can bequite difficult at times to get the shot you want without some bodily part being in the viewfinder.
Thank you so much Ruth for all your kind words!! The cold eavening I experiensed to do the gallery is forgotten... /Anders
thanks for coming by my galleries. I just had a heart warming trip to virginia on yours. I live in the Shenandoah Valley and the images brought home so close to mind. Thank you. I grew up in Hershey and spent my boy scout days in those Western Pa mountains. Blessings on you and your lovely Nikon. You have some very delightful galleries. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Thank you so much for the vote and the nice comments regarding the lotus flower.
Viewed your galleries and I have to say that you really are a talented photographer. You have sooooo many photos to be proud of. Such wonderful subjects and compositions.
Thank you so much for sharing them with all of us. Your photos are truly inspiring :-)
Ruth, thank you for commenting on my photos. +ve comments are always a nice addition to someones gallery. I've been following up the last few days your work and I have to admit that you to have magical/breath taking photos. Excellent work in every aspect. Keep it up, you are added to my Fav. Artists List. Thank you for sharing your photos.
Ruth, thank you for the nice comments on my aurora images. Alot of people are quite surprised when they see that these images were taken in Iowa. You can see them there in Pennsylvania just as well as we are about the same latitude. The trick is knowing exactly when the lights are out and then having the passion and desire to get up in the middle of the night and go out to a dark spot and shoot them :) Take care and best wishes! Stan
I am glad I found you here. Your photos are so beautiful. You have a special way with color that is unmatched. Everything is so beautiful. :-)
Ruth, I do not know where my other post went, but I thought it very necessary to tell you that your galleries are really fine art. I just got finished perusing Zane Paxton's fine galleries and thought that it would be hard for other photographers to live up to his works, but I was dead wrong. Your colors, composition and exposures are spot-on. Keep up the great work. You also are an inspiration to all who are lucky enough to view and appreciate your images.
thank you do Ruth for your comments sympathetic nerves, I believe to understand that your grandmother comes from France you thus have French roots? the castle that you see on this image is in fact only one tower which protected the entry from the port of the city of the Small rock, that is in the south - west coast Atlantique it is at 2 hours of car of at home the town of Bordeaux. The interesting castles are not far from Paris, Versailles, Chambord, Vaux Vicompte if you come to visit France it should not be missed, you can have further information on the Web cordial greetings Mario
Thanks for your kind comments o my galleries, Ruth.
Best wishes for you and a very happy new year!
Your photos/galleries are very interesting and beautiful. You've got an eye and a big tallent to photography. I added you to my favourites list. Will be back for sure - also because I lived in Northern NJ for a year.
Thank you for visiting my galleries. Your work goes beyond amazing and is inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for visiting my Pennsylvania gallery, and for all your nice comments! It's nice to meet a fellow PA photographer! I lived in Chester County (Downingtown) for a short while, but all those images are 35mm slides, which have not been scanned yet! ;-) Your work is absolutely fabulous! It's great to see such beautiful shots of areas of PA that I've never seen! I'm envious of your proximity to the ocean too! ;-) I will definitely be checking back to see more of your photography!! And btw, spring is the best time for Hocking Hills, Ohio! When the snow melts, the waterfalls are soo much nicer!! Though fall is beautiful too! Definitely worth the trip!
Thanks for stopping by and leading me to your galleries!
You are the only photographer that I have added to my *favorities* list. I enjoy admiring your photos very much and they serve as great inspiration to me.
Thanks for the encouraging comments on my galleries. I truly enjoyed visiting all your galleries.
Enjoyed your galleries greatly! As I also live in the mid-Atlantic region, they also show me some of the sights I have been missing all these years. Thanks!
Roy Birger Nilsen
Thank you for your kind comments on my galleries,I`ve enjoyed getting to know your work and will be back to your galleries, for sure!Loads of good pictures here!See you!:-)
Ok Ruth your images need to be in National Geographic or some magazine showing the northeast beauty. - I really enjoy your work. - Regards
Just wanted to say that I enjoyed your PBase gallery. Also, I saw your work displayed in the Ephrata Public Library a few weeks back, then lo-and-behold I find your work here on PBase while searching the forums, small world!
Absolutely beautiful pictures....I am not a photographer but I do enjoy a good photograph. These would make beautiful internet wallpapers...Stunning.

Thanks Tom, that was so nice of you to leave a congrats :)
Just had to stop by and congratulate you on your recent publications. I'm sure there will be much more of your excellent work to be printed in times to come. Well deserved. Thanks,
Your gallery has really come along here on pBase, and is very well organized. Plus, the images are great! You've made very nice comments on my gallery - and asked where the red fence on the river looking into Lambertville was. It is (was) right behind the Bucks County Playhouse, looking at the free bridge into Lambertville.
Again, Ruth, thanks for looing at my pbase gallery. I think we have similar interests! I love your work....great landscapes, butterflies and flowers. You have some lovely fall colors! Keep up the great work! Brenda
Ruth, thank you for the nice comments on my images. I've just viewed many of your's and I can see why you might be drawn to mine. In some ways, I think, we may see the world in a similar way. Me probably a little more in b&w though..... The gallery of old family photos, as you mentioned, is extremely important to myself and my family. The images, themselves, became very important this past week as we had a death in the family. I was able to share images with a PC projector at the wake for my brother and it meant a lot to everyone. Isn't that the power of photography? Whether doing something like this or giving photos back to someone and seeing the giant smile on a face. Isn't that great? I wish you the best with all of your photographic endeavors. Please take care. Daniel.
Very nice work, Ruth
Thanks for your kind comments on my photos. I hope you get some great photos of New England in October. The bridge in Somesville on Mount Desert Island is on the right as you enter the village (The ocean is on the left coming from the mainland).
Ruth, you have some of the most beautiful images I've seen. Granted, you live in a very photogenic area, but the way you portray it is exceptional. Thanks for posting these, I'll be a regular visitor from now on.
Thanks for having a look at my galleries too.
Ruth, you photo album is great. One of the best gallery in my record. Cheers.
My photo album:
I visited your galleries and was very impressed which made your kind comment about my Doylestown Gallery all the more appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Ruth, looks like your pbase gallery is really taking shape! I'll be back to check it from time to time. By the way, you've really grown as a photographer, I see so much improvement in your work and it's been a pleasure to see your progress!
You really have some wonderful photos. "Reflections of Discovery" is truly fantastic. Thanks for sharing your work. Take care!
Thanks for having a look at my gallery in pBase. I've bookmarked yours to look at later when I'm at home. Very nice galleries, I love the saturated colors.
In answer to your comments, yes, the one image you commented on IS in Stockdon, N.J., not in Bucks, so I'll have to move that! The bridge you mention is actually the free bridge between Lambertville and New Hope. The canal pic was taken before the floods, although I haven't been on that part of the canal since the floods. I usually get out early and walk and try to take and re-take those images around town (New Hope), so I regularly walk the bridge over the Delaware.
