My first cousin Dick, eleven years older, was my childhood idol. I loved driving in the coal truck with him, in the Model A he had for a short time, and especially in the 1941 Ford business coupe with him or his dad, Amos -- before he got his Studebaker. I also loved exploring the mines, riding the mine ponies at Uncle John's farm, and stopping at Stanton to get cold "pop" on the way back to Brookville after being at the mines all day. And of course there was the junk yard of old cars just over the hill on Jefferson Ave. That was a car enthusiasts paradise. Staying in Brookville a couple times for a few weeks each year (summer and winter) were the best times while growing up.
